Todays Verse

Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this? - John 11:25-26 ESV

Mission Statement

Our Mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ as we proclaim the truth of God’s Word; Invite people into a loving relationship with God and one another; Meet vital needs and help all to find their God given purpose.

What We Believe

We believe in making disciples for Jesus Christ.  We believe God’s word is inspired and to be studied and trusted.  We believe in reaching out locally and around the world with mission efforts that touch both spiritual and physical needs of hurting people.  We believe in sharing God’s love joyfully.

We are a Confessing Church

We confess that Jesus Christ is the Son, the Savior and the Lord, according to the Scriptures.  The United Methodist Church has never had an institutional guarantee of doctrinal diversity without boundaries. We implore other United Methodists, laity and clergy, to join us in the confession.  Relying upon the power of the Holy Spirit, we vow to make this confession in the congregations, boards, divisions, agencies, seminaries and conferences of our denomination. We will faithfully support United Methodist activities, groups, programs, and publications that further this confession, and we will vigorously challenge and hold accountable those that undermine this confession. All the while, readying for the coming of Jesus Christ in power and glory, we welcome ecumenical partnerships in the advancement of this confession.  The Confessing Movement Website

The most important commandment is this ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.

Mark 12:30-31 (paraphrased)

Wesley UMC is a church with a heart for God.  The greatest commandment, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength” is a cornerstone of Wesley.  Emphasis on worship, Bible study and prayer, supports and guides all of the ministries of the church.

The worship experience is exciting with both contemporary and traditional elements in the service.  Every fifth Sunday evening, there is a prayer service for healing.  Every first Sunday, communion is celebrated and experienced.

The word “family” is heard and experienced at Wesley because every person is valued as a brother or sister in Christ.  The second great commandment “you shall love your neighbor as yourself,” is lived out in the family of faith at Wesley through our regular times of fellowship, where young and old can get to know and love each other better.

The church program offers a strong ministry to all ages and groups:  from the excellent nursery, to the exciting children’s program, to the growing youth program or the adult program that has many opportunities for spiritual growth.

The Great Commission from Jesus tells us to go and make disciples.  Wesley believes in missions, both abroad and at home.  We sponsor regular mission trips to areas in need in our state and city.  Of special interest is the yearly mission taken during spring break, when thirty-five to forty people go and serve those in need.

Wesley believes in prayerful, compassionate support of those who can no longer come to church on their own. We support the hurting and the needy in our community.  Christ has called us to be His body touching His world.  We joyfully are finding new ways to expand our outreach to the glory of God!
